No Intermediate Mullion Required Within 4 Meters! Shanghai Weiwang FM-Certified Flood Door Solves the Flood Protection Challenge for Rolling Shutter Doors

In the Jiahong Technology laboratory and equipment room flood door project, Shanghai Weiwang Technology Co., Ltd. installed the FD-02 FM Certified Quick-fit Buckled Flood Door System at the critical entrances of the laboratory and equipment room in Building 4.

Project Highlights

The biggest technical highlight of this project is:

For door openings within 4 meters in width, Shanghai Weiwang’s FM-certified flood door does not require intermediate mullions or diagonal bracing structures. This is a significant advantage compared with traditional flood doors.

In many factories, laboratories, equipment rooms, and logistics passage scenarios, the entrance width of rolling shutter doors is typically close to or exceeds 3 meters. Under such opening conditions, traditional flood doors usually require additional intermediate support posts or diagonal braces to improve resistance against water pressure. However, in actual use, these intermediate supports and braces often interfere with the closing space of the rolling shutter door, preventing it from closing properly.

If the rolling shutter door cannot close, flood protection cannot truly be implemented

Once flood or heavy rain warnings are issued, if the rolling shutter door cannot be closed, on-site personnel must remain on standby for extended periods, which not only increases emergency management pressure but also reduces the overall deployment efficiency.

Especially for high-value spaces such as laboratories and equipment rooms, a flood protection system must not only be capable of blocking water, but also be able to achieve the following within limited response time:

✅ Rapid deployment
✅ Reliable flood protection
✅ Controlled and manageable operation

Shanghai Weiwang’s FD-02 FM Certified Quick-fit Buckled Flood Door, through the coordinated system design of modular panels, side wall tracks, bottom sealing, and buckle-lock compression mechanisms, achieves the following while meeting the project’s required flood protection height:

The application advantage of requiring no intermediate mullions or diagonal bracing for openings within 4 meters.

This means that at this project site:

· The rolling shutter door can close normally

· Personnel can complete flood barrier deployment quickly

· No additional intermediate support structures are required

· Reduced manpower required for on-site standby

· Lower operational complexity on site

For the Jiahong Technology laboratory and equipment rooms, this project not only strengthened the flood protection capability of critical entrances, but also further improved the risk control level of high-value experimental and equipment spaces under extreme weather conditions.

What Shanghai Weiwang’s FM-certified flood door system demonstrates is precisely the upgrade from “temporary water blocking” to “critical asset risk management.”
